NebGolf Announces 2025 Championship Schedule
Entries open March 3 at nebgolf.org
OMAHA (February 15, 2024) – Entries open for the Nebraska Golf Association’s championships on March 3, and the schedule is full of opportunities for golfers of all ages to compete at some of the top courses across the state.
The 2025 schedule includes a return to the popular resort in Valentine, The Prairie Club, and stops at some top venues in the state. There are now 14 championships available for NebGolf members to compete in, including four in which full exemptions into USGA championships are again available. The champions of the Nebraska Amateur, Nebraska Women's Amateur, Nebraska Junior Amateur and Nebraska Girls' Amateur will all advance to the respective USGA championships in 2025.
The Prairie Club, Valentine (No. 7 - Dunes Course)
The 24th Nebraska Four-Ball Championship will kick-off the season at The Prairie Club on May 9-10. The Dunes Course will be used for this championship, just the second staged at the resort. The 2015 Nebraska Match Play was conducted at The Prairie Club, and provided a dramatic setting for the championship, which was won by Michael Colgate, a UNK golfer at the time and eventual Husker. The Dunes Course, designed by Tom Lehman, is currently ranked 41st in Golf Digest's America's 100 Greatest Public Courses. Like last year, entries will open for exempt players and sides only on March 3. They will have until March 17 to secure their spots in the field, when entries open for non-exempt sides.
The Club at Indian Creek, Elkhorn (No. 4 - Black Bird)
NebGolf's oldest championship returns to one of the most-challenging venues in the state. The Club at Indian Creek will host the 117th Nebraska Amateur, June 23-26. It will be the third time hosting for the Elkhorn course, which has been the site of the Korn Ferry Tour's Pinnacle Bank Championship since 2017. Indian Creek hosted the Nebraska Amateur in 2006, when Lincoln's Brady Schnell ran away with a nine-stroke victory. Nine years later, Gibbon's Rylee Reinertson won the 2015 title with a clutch birdie putt on the 72nd hole. The Champion in 2025 will earn an exemption into the 125th U.S. Amateur at the Olympic Club in San Francisco in August.
Beatrice Country Club (No. 1)
The 51st Nebraska Women's Amateur Championship will make a fifth stop at Beatrice Country Club, June 3-5. The club first hosted in 1987, when Alliance's Laura Gunia won the title. The list of champions in Beatrice also includes Nebraska Golf Hall of Famer Sarah Sasse-Kildow (2000) and two-time champion Kayla Barnes (2011). Scottsbluff's Jordan York won the most recent title there in 2018. The 2025 Champion will be headed to the 125th U.S. Women's Amateur at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon in August.
In addition, the 47th Nebraska Women's Senior Amateur Championship will be conducted concurrently at Beatrice Country Club. The Senior Amateur field will play 36-holes of stroke play on June 4-5. Lincoln's Jill Pilkington is the defending champion after her triumph in a playoff last year. The two simultaneous championships will give Beatrice Country Club its 40th and 41st NebGolf championships, breaking a tie with the Country Club of Lincoln for the most all-time.
Hillcrest Country Club (No. 8)
The second-oldest golf championship in the state is headed to a club that's nearly a 100-years-old itself. Hillcrest Country Club in Lincoln will host the 102nd Nebraska Women's Match Play Championship, July 28-31. The club opened in 1928, and has hosted the championship five times previously. All five titles at Hillcrest belong to Nebraska Golf Hall of Famers, including Lucile Mann (1950), Jean Hyland (1957), Dorothy Schwartzkopf (1965), Nanette Circo (1976) and Susan Marchese (1988). Omaha's Katie Ruge is the defending champion, after sweeping both women's championships in 2024.
Tatanka Golf Club, Niobrara (Nos. 2, 3 & 16)
The 58th Nebraska Match Play Championship will venture to a new venue, one that should produce an excellent stage for match play. The championship is scheduled for July 14-18 at Tatanka Golf Club in Niobrara, which hosted the Nebraska Four-Ball the past two years. Tatanka's terrain is unique and will present a challenge for the field attempting to make the bracket of 32.
Lochland Country Club in Hastings will host the 28th Nebraska Mid-Amateur Championship, August 23-24. It's the first time hosting the Mid-Amateur for the club, though it hosted the 2021 Nebraska Amateur. Lincoln's David Easley won that title in 2021, and is also the defending champion, winning the Nebraska Mid-Amateur last year.
The 5th Nebraska Women's Mid-Amateur will be staged in September, with the site to be determined. Women 22-years-and-older are eligible to compete in the competition, as long as they have not competed on a college golf team since the previous September. In addition to the championship competition, the field will be flighted after the first round.
NebGolf's senior championships are also set, with the 27th Nebraska Senior Amateur Championship at Landmand Golf Club, June 19-20. The 15th Nebraska Senior Match Play Championship will take place at Fremont Golf Club, September 22-24.
The 2025 schedule also features championships for junior golfers. Meadowlark Hills Golf Course in Kearney will be the venue for both the 25th Nebraska Girls’ Amateur Championship and the 58th Nebraska Junior Amateur Championship, June 9-11. Exemptions into the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship and U.S. Junior Amateur Championship will again be at stake.
The 63rd Nebraska Girls’ Match Play Championship and the 36th Nebraska Junior Match Play Championship will be conducted at Riverside Golf Club in Grand Island, July 7-10.
Entries for all championships will officially open at 8 a.m. on March 3 for these championships. For more information on the NebGolf’s championships, visit the Competitions section below.
