Kim, Gutschewski Earn Medalist Honors at Nebraska Junior Match Play

Stroke Play Qualifying Conducted Monday at Norfolk Country Club

NORFOLK (July 8, 2024) - Lincoln's Naryn Kim earned medalist honors at the 62nd Nebraska Girls' Match Play Championship and Omaha'sTrevor Gutschewski did the same at the 35th Nebraska Junior Match Play Championship, after Stroke Play Qualifying on Monday at Norfolk Country Club.

Kim, the Defending Champion, shot a round of 74 (+2) to post the low score on the girls' side and take the No. 1 seed. The 13-year-old was the youngest champion last year when she won her title, and is set up for a repeat run.

Gutschewski caught fire and put together one of the lowest rounds in qualifying history, a 64 (-8), to cruised to the No. 1 seed by four strokes. Coming off runner-up finishes at the Nebraska Junior Amateur and the Nebraska Match Play, Gutschewski is looking to capture his second NebGolf title, adding to his 2022 Nebraska Junior Amateur title.

Coltrane Mittag of Ashland is the No. 2 seed on the boys' side after a round of 68 (-4). The 2023 Nebraska Junior Golfer of the Year, sharing the award with Gutschewski, is playing in his first NebGolf championship since the 2022 Nebraska Junior Match Play, where he made it to the Quarterfinals. Elkhorn's Tyler Nietfeldt took the No. 3 seed with a round of 69 (-3).

Lincoln's Olivia Lovegrove is the No. 2 seed on the girls' side with a round of 76 (+4), and Omaha's Julia Karmazin is the No. 3 seed with a 77 (+5). Karmazin is coming off back-to-back Nebraska Girls' Amateur Titles.
