Round One Conducted Saturday at Platteview Golf Club

BELLEVUE (August 24, 2024) - Omaha's Collin Craft took the lead after the first round of the 26th Nebraska Mid-Amateur Championship on Saturday at Platteview Golf Club in Bellevue.

Craft shot the low round of the day, a 68 (-4), to jump into the lead at the halfway point. The former Creighton Bluejay was one of nine players to break par on Saturday, making an eagle, four birdies and a double-bogey. He leads by one stroke over two players in search of his first title.

It was a hot start, on a hot day for Craft, who made eagle on the par-5 second hole. He added birdies on Nos. 5, 7 and 8 to get to 5-under. A double-bogey on No. 9 set him back, but he still turned in 33 (-3). Craft was mistake-free on the back nine, making eight pars and a birdie on No. 14 to post his 4-under round.

Elkhorn's Alex Farrell and Omaha's Jon Oswalt are a stroke back after both players shot 69 (-3). Farrell made seven birdies during his round, while Oswalt made six birdies and an eagle.

Platteview member Aaron Stockton of Papillion had a bogey-free round going with four birdies, until a double-bogey on No. 18 dropped him to a 70 (-2). He's tied for fourth with Lincoln's Scott Tridle and David Easley. Easley had the only round of the day with no bogeys or worse, making two birdies and 16 pars.

The 2o20 Champion, Andy Sajevic of Omaha, is tied for seventh after a round 71 (-1). Elkhorn's Daniel Huston and Bennington's William Amundsen also shot 1-under.

Six players round out the Top 10 after rounds of 72 (E). That group includes Omaha's Alex Kubik, Kevin Gillick, Mike Siwa and Dylan Heng, and Lincoln's Jay Moore and Papillion's Adam Cordes, another Platteview member.

The three-time defending champion, Johnny Spellerberg of Bennington, shot a 73 (+1) and is tied for 16th.

The Final Round starts at 8 a.m., with the leaders, Craft, Farrell and Oswalt set to tee off No. 1 at 2:50 p.m. Full results and Sunday's pairings are available on the championship website below, along with additional information.
