Bellevue University, Hastings College Take Team Titles at Nebraska Intercollegiate
Final Round Conducted Saturday at Lochland Country Club
HASTINGS (October 5, 2024) - The home team, Hastings College, took the men's title and Bellevue University won the women's title at the 2024 Nebraska Intercollegiate on Saturday at Lochland Country Club.
Hastings caught fire during the Final Round, posting the only team round under-par, a 286 (-2), to win the team race by nine strokes with a 579 (+3) total. It's the second team title for the Broncos, who last won in 2014.
The Bellevue University women held off the competition and set another record on Saturday. After a tournament record 307 (+19) on Friday, the Bruins followed up with a 310 (+22) to set the scoring record with a 617 (+41) total.
A playoff was needed to settle the men's individual race, with Thomas Gatlin of Bellevue University and Henry Kosmicki of Hastings College finishing in a tie at 141 (-3). Both players shot rounds of 71 (-1) to finish ahead of the competition. Gatlin secured the win on the first playoff hole with a bogey on No. 17.
On the women's side, it was a battle between Bruin teammates. Tilde-Li Andersson came from behind with a final round 74 (+2) to take the individual title with a 150 (+6) total, which tied the tournament record. Chloe Blandinieres, the first round leader, posted a 78 (+6) to finish as the runner-up to her teammate at 152 (+8).
Wayne State College's Camryn Johnson finished third at 153 (+9), matching Andersson for the round of the day with a 74 (+2). Sofia Wildeman of the University of Nebraska-Kearney was fourth at 156 (+12), while Saffire Sayre of Wayne State and Maria Pinedo of Bellevue University tied for fifth, for the second-straight year, at 157 (+13).
IY Ibnu was the fourth player to earn a medal for Bellevue University, contributing to the team title with a 158 9+14) total. Doane's Connie Jam finished ninth at 159 (+15), and rounding out the Top 10 in a tie for ninth was UNK's Beth Grant, and Wayne State's Erica Lee and Hailey Kenkel at 161 (+17).
Wayne State finished runner-up in the team race with a 628 (+52) total, while UNK was third at 640 (+64).
On the men's side, Northeast Community College was nine strokes behind Hastings College in second at 588 (+12). Bellevue University took third at 591 (+15), and Midland University was fourth at 593 (+17).
Behind Gatlin and Kosmicki, two other players finished in red figures. Jacob Harnden of Northeast CC and Janlo Zaayman of Midland University each shot rounds of 72 (E) to finish a stroke out of the playoff at 142 (-2), tied for third.
Blake Eddy of Hastings College helped his team to the win with a 144 (E) total, tying for fifth with Southeast Community College's Prestin Vilai. Bruin Kyle Dale took seventh with a 146 (+2) total.
Four players earned medals finishing tied for eighth at 147 (+3), including Tyler Baumchen of Northeast CC, Mads Svendsen of SCC, Julius Rauter of Doane and Randy Christiansen of Bellevue University.
