Bellevue Cruises to Another Nebraska Intercollegiate Title
Final Round Conducted Saturday at Norfolk Country Club
NORFOLK (October 10, 2020) - Bellevue University cruised to win a second straight title at the 2020 Nebraska Intercollegiate at Norfolk Country Club on Saturday.
The Bruins held a large lead after the first round and only separated further from the field during the final round. Bellevue broke par for the second straight day as a team, posting a 287 (-1). It was a 569 (-7) total for the Bruins, who won the title by 36 strokes. Bellevue also won in 2018, the last time the Nebraska Intercollegiate was staged.
Freshman Hugo Ronnberg captured the individual title, following his first round 69 (-3) with an even-par 72 for a 141 (-3) total. His teammates fell in right behind, with Rodrigo Navarrete finishing runner-up at 142 (-2) after back-to-back rounds of 71 (-1). Floris-Jan Oosterhof took third at 143 (-1), while Alex Zillig tied for fourth at 147 (+3).
Northeast Community College's Ty Heimes and Baptiste Bonnet, playing for Bellevue's second team, tied with Zillig at 147 (+3). Bellevue's Andre Becerra also earned a medal, finishing seventh at 148 (+4).
Three players tied for eighth to round out the Top 10. Nebraska Wesleyan University's Connor Dormann, Doane University's Conor Schubring and Concordia University's Drew D'Ercole all produced totals of 149 (+5).
Nebraska Wesleyan finished second as a team, with a 605 (+29) total, while Doane was third at 614 (+38).
