Simulator Season is Here
For a long time, golfers in Nebraska had to face that dreaded realization as the holidays approached and winter started to show its teeth…that the golf season was over. Not just that it was over either, that no one knew exactly when it would come back. It could be February one year, or April the next, before they were playing on (semi) green grass again.
Enter the virtual golf world. The explosion of simulator golf has been a welcome addition to the Nebraska golf scene. It seems a new spot to thaw out the sticks and get some swings in pops up every month. A simple internet search shows the plethora of options for some not-so-offseason golf.
Beyond Golf was one of the first simulator-centric places to open in Omaha in 2009. Since then, owner Josh Galvin has added a kitchen, with some of the best food anywhere, and Beyond Golf now boasts five bays with the top-of-the-line GOLFZON system.
It took a while to catch on, but there’s now indoor golf for all sorts of occasions and golfers. The purists might hit up Swing365, Back Nine or the Golf Studio, which all offer memberships for 24/7 access. It’s all about the golf.
Others have taken the Beyond Golf model, offering a sports lounge and food. Net Par, Fore Seasons and X-Golf are some options in this style in Omaha.
Several green grass facilities are now in the game too. Most private clubs have a simulator of some sort on property, while some public courses have invested in the game to get golfers out during the winter. Stone Creek Golf Course, Tiburon Golf Club and Tregaron Golf Course to name a few in the Omaha area.
There’s others that have blended the indoor game with the outdoor game. Of course, there’s Top Golf. Although, Miracle Hill’s Top Tracer Range offers a cozier experience, hitting out of bays onto the driving range, with the same technology.
If you're thinking this is just a city trend, think again. The simulator craze has spread to several smaller towns across the state; from The Drive in Holdrege to High Flyers in Humphrey. There's probably a simulator within reach, no matter where you're at in the state. Check out the list below to find one near you (and let us know if there's any we're missing).
