Oak Hills Wins Another Interclub Championship
GOTHENBURG (September 19, 2022) – Oak Hills Country Club won the 2022 NGA Interclub Championship at Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg on Monday, securing a second title in three years.
Oak Hills finished runner-up in 2019, and won the following year in 2020. The club did not make the championship last year, but came storming back to win another title.
It was a battle in the Final against Fremont Golf Club, and the match ended in a 12-all tie. A playoff ensued, and after a blind draw, the No. 4 group was selected to decide the championship. Todd Van Essen and Brian Elsasser of Oak Hills took on Brad Cavitt and Rick Roffers of Fremont in the playoff. Both Fremont players hit their approach shots close on No. 1, but Van Essen hit his even closer. After a couple misses from the Fremont side, Van Essen rolled in his birdie putt to win his singles match and the four-ball match to secure the title.
In the semifinals, Oak Hills took down Lochland Country Club, 16-8, while Fremont advanced past Beatrice Country Club, 17-7.
