Junior Competitions (2017)

The Nebraska Golf Association and the Nebraska PGA join forces to present the state's premier junior golf organization - the Nebraska Junior Golf Tour (NJGT). The NJGT offers just over 70 competitive golf events for junior golfers beginning at the age of seven continuing through the summer following a golfer's graduation from high school. The series of competitions includes tournaments for every level of golfer including featured tournaments for the more accomplished player and TEAM GOLF for the younger player. The Nebraska Golf Association conducts a pair of state championships each summer for boys and girls and another championship specifically for golfers 6-12. Tournament web sites and entry forms for each are available March 1 by linking to the applicable championship below.

The United States Golf Association conducts 13 national championships including two for junior golfers under the age of 19. These championships are reserved for golfers that qualify through sectional tournaments held around the country. Junior golfers may attempt to qualify only once at a single sectional site. Dates and sites of these national championships and those sectional qualifiers conducted in Nebraska are listed below. The Nebraska Golf Association will once again assemble a fall junior series of 18-hole junior tournaments for male high school age golfers. These tournaments provide a fall competitive golf outlet and the opportunity to build golfers’ playing records. The 2017 schedule wil lbe published this spring. In an effort to promote interest and participation in the game of golf, the Masters Tournament Foundation, United States Golf Association (USGA) and The PGA of America created the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship, a free, nationwide junior skills competition that will conclude at Augusta National Golf Club each year. Participants in the Drive, Chip and Putt Championship advance through local and regional qualifiers conducted throughout the United States. Competitors will be comprised of boys and girls ages 7-15, and they will compete in separate divisions in four age categories. The regional champions in each of the boys and girls divisions from the four age categories will advance to the finals to be held at Augusta National the Sunday before the Masters Tournament. The Championship finals will be produced and broadcast by Golf Channel. The Nebraska Golf Association and the Nebraska PGA Section will host three local qualifiers in 2017.
