SCHNEIDER WINS 42nd JUNIOR AMATEUR ON FINAL HOLE

Wayne - Richard Schneider of Beemer birdied the final three holes Wednesday to win the 42nd Nebraska Junior Amateur by one shot over Bryce Brown of Lincoln. Schneider, who began the day three shots back of Brown along with Rylee Reinertson of Gibbon and Collin Craft of Omaha, posted a 5-under par 66; Brown a 1-under 70.

As the leaders made their way to the back nine, the winds calmed and birdies became the norm. Third place finisher Zach Taylor of Omaha, who also shared the lead with Brown at one point made 7 birdies in an 8-hole stretch. He also shot 66. All told, 5 golfers posted under par scores Wednesday, 1 more than the previous two rounds combined.

Schneider will play collegiate golf in the fall at Colorado State. The junior amateur title is his first state golf association championship.
